The Edit News Report Contest

Use our comprehensive set of guided materials to run The Edit with your students. We recommend bookmarking this page for easy access when it comes time to submit.

Classroom Materials

If you do not yet have access to Adobe Express for your classroom, get it for free by following the steps in the “Adobe Express” tab above.

Teacher Guide

New for 2026: Start with our expanded teacher guide at the button below, which features step-by-step instructions for running The Edit in your classroom. It includes every page and video from the student guide along with learning objectives and teaching tips.

Student Guide

New for 2026: Provide your students the student guide link below, which is an editable Adobe Express template.

Student guide link (copy-paste and provide to your students):
https://adobe.ly/editstudentguide

After your students open the student guide link, they can click the “Remix” button to create a copy in their Adobe Express account. From there, students may collaborate in teams to complete the tasks in the guide and replace the placeholder text with information relevant to their project.

If you prefer to provide your students a PDF copy of the student guide, this can be downloaded at the button below. The video links will still work when opened in a PDF viewer such as Adobe Acrobat.

Fact Sheets

In the student guide, students will access fact sheets to help with their research process. Those can also be found here:
Well-being fact sheets

Students will select one of the four topics below for their report:

  • Physical well-being
  • Mental well-being
  • Financial well-being
  • New for 2026: Social well-being

New for 2026: You’ll also find NFL and Premier League fact sheets, which can serve as inspiration for students who choose to report on a topic related to sports.

Permission Slip

Each student who participates in The Edit will need to have a permission form signed by a parent or legal guardian. NBCU Academy will reach out by email to collect these from the top 10 contest finalists. Download the form below and keep the signed copies for your records:
